Spinozaroute: 11 benches in Amsterdam city nature
Spinoza was a progressive thinker who considered human beings to be part of nature. But just how natural are human beings? Along the cycling route, you will find 11 special benches. Each bench contains a unique QR code which you can use to listen to a free podcast – but do note that these are in Dutch. These include reflective contributions from Artis Zoo biologists, prominent scientists and Amsterdam locals.
Linger on the city’s Spinoza benches and reflect on human beings and nature
Along the cycling route, you will find 11 special benches. The armrests in the benches are printed from plastic waste. They are shaped like the organism on which you learn more in the podcasts -but do note that these are in Dutch. The armrests are designed and printed by 3D-printer vanPlestik.
Since april 2023, the armrests have been replaced by photo’s of the rests. Now the benches can again be used by the homeless as a place to sleep.
